Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, accompanied by his wife, took a walk through the centre of the capital of Zagreb during the New Year Eve's celebrations in the main square.
At midnight he shook hands with revellers and exchanged best wishes on that occasion.
Addressing reporters in the square in the first minutes of 2011, President Josipovic expressed hope that the new year would be a better one and that "in 2011 Croatia will finally take an ascending course".
President Josipovic wished a happy new year filled with success, health, love and understanding.
