President Ivo Josipovic received the Speaker of the Canadian House of Commons, Andrew Scheer, thanking him for Canada's support for Croatia's accession to NATO and upcoming accession to the European Union.
President Josipovic assessed as important Canada's decision to cancel visa requirements for Croatian citizens and the success of the Youth Mobility programme which enables Croatian and Canadian citizens to get an education and work experience in Canada and Croatia.
The two officials talked about the Croatian emigrants in Canada who successfully contribute to the strengthening of Croatian-Canadian ties, the statement said.
President Josipovic said economic cooperation was far below the actual possibilities, highlighting Croatia's openness to Canadian investments. He added that cooperation between the two governments was crucial for the development of economic relations.
