Croatian President Stjepan Mesić has received Sri Lanka's Parliament Speaker, Wijesinghe Jayaweera Mudiyanselage Lokubandara.
Recalling his first visit to Sri Lanka a few years ago, President Mesić said that the two countries had failed to use all the potentials to develop their relations, particularly in the economic field.
Mr. Lokubandara said his country highly appreciated Croatia's readiness to assist in all aspects of Sri Lanka's development. In this context, he highlighted cooperation in the shipbuilding sector and said that there was also interest in promoting cooperation in other areas, particularly in culture.
President Mesić and Mr. Lokubandara also discussed internal problems faced by Sri Lanka and the situation in Southeast Europe.
