President Mesić congratulates Ahtisaari on winning Nobel Peace Prize
Croatian President Stjepan Mesić congratulated former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari on winning this year's Nobel Peace Prize.
"Congratulations on winning the Nobel Peace Prize, which you deserved through years of work and efforts in peace missions in Africa, Asia and Southeast Europe," President Mesić stated in a note.
From September 1992 to April 1993, Ahtisaari chaired the International Conference on the Former Yugoslavia task force in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In July 1993, he become a special advisor to the Conference and subsequently the UN's special representative for the former Yugoslavia.
In recent years, he was the UN's special representative for Belgrade-Pristina talks on the status of Kosovo.
