{"id":11388,"date":"2021-07-27T16:04:27","date_gmt":"2021-07-27T14:04:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.predsjednik.hr\/?post_type=news&#038;p=11388"},"modified":"2021-07-28T12:04:57","modified_gmt":"2021-07-28T10:04:57","slug":"president-milanovic-meets-with-delegation-of-bak-istria-special-police-unit-association-on-the-30th-anniversary-of-its-formation","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.predsjednik.hr\/en\/news\/president-milanovic-meets-with-delegation-of-bak-istria-special-police-unit-association-on-the-30th-anniversary-of-its-formation\/","title":{"rendered":"President Milanovi\u0107 Meets with Delegation of \u201cBak\u201d Istria Special Police Unit Association on the 30th Anniversary of its Formation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 met in his Office with a delegation of the \u201cBak\u201d Special Police Unit Association of the Istrian Police Department, which included the President of the Association Mladen Bla\u0161kovi\u0107, the Head of the Istrian Police Department and Vice President of the Association Bo\u017eo Kirin, wartime commanders Skender Hasimi and Slavko Jereb, and Association members Dragan Brunjak, Silvio Bui\u0107, Zdravko Karak and Du\u0161anko Babi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The special police unit was formed on this day 30 years ago. It was the first organized combat unit from Istria to participate in the defense of Croatia. The first combat mission of the \u201cBak\u201d Special Police Unit was the defense of the town of Petrinja in 1991, after which it participated in practically all major military and police operations: Maslenica, Medak Pocket, Flash and Storm. Over 350 members of the unit fought in the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the end of the Homeland War, members of the \u201cBak\u201d Special Police Unit participated in the demining of vast stretches of Croatia \u2013 from Vukovar to Dubrovnik.
