The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 received in his Office a delegation of the Neretva River Boatmen Association [Udruga la\u0111ara Neretve], which included the President of the Association Luka Or\u0161uli\u0107 and its members Bo\u017eo Zadro and Ante \u0160prlje. The Neretva River Boatmen Association is the organizer of the 24th<\/sup> edition of the traditional Ladja Marathon on the Neretva River that will be held this year under the patronage of the President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The heads of the Neretva River Boatmen Association thanked the President of the Republic for his support and patronage and acquainted him with their plans to further popularize and increase international participation in the Ladja Marathon. According to Mr. Or\u0161uli\u0107, in the coming years the organizers plan to extend the duration of the event to an entire week and enrich it with additional content, which would significantly boost the tourist offer in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, 36 teams from Croatia and abroad will take part in the Ladja Marathon. The competition in the Neretva River valley is an amateur sports race of traditional, autochthonous boats [ladja]. It is held annually on a 22,500-meter route. Oarsmen compete in a race on the Neretva River and its tributaries on the stretch from the town of Metkovi\u0107 to the Adriatic port town of Plo\u010de.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attending the meeting alongside President Milanovi\u0107 were Head of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic Bartol \u0160imuni\u0107 and Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Muli\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
