The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 received members of the Kickboxing Club \u201cTigar\u201d of Karlovac who acquainted him with the achievements of this year\u2019s European Cup Karlovac Open, held in May in Karlovac under the auspices of the President of the Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year the European Cup Karlovac Open also bearing the name \u201c1st<\/sup> Memorial \u201cMihael Javorovi\u0107\u201d in memory of the Club\u2019s member who died tragically, is the largest and most important competition in kickboxing, and martial arts in general, held in Croatia. Furthermore, the members of the Club underlined that, in spite of the pandemic which paralyzed indoor sports, 1,713 competitors from 120 clubs and 27 states participated in this year\u2019s tournament. They told the President that gold medals were won by Karlovac kickboxers Lara Mihali\u0107 and Roka Puljak, silver medal was won by Matej Medved in the ring. President Milanovi\u0107 congratulated them personally on their achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Moreover, they talked about other successes of athletes from the Kickboxing Club \u201cTigar of Karlovac \u201d, founded in 2002, that has been the leader in Croatian kickboxing for years. Since its foundation, members of the \u201cTigar\u201d club have won 6 world champion titles in younger age group to cadets and 3 European champion titles in younger age groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Attending the meeting besides President Milanovi\u0107 were the president and head coach and organizer of the European Cup Zoran Cicvara, multiple champion and member of the Republic of Croatia national team Lukas Jura\u0161i\u0107, junior champion of the Republic of Croatia for 2021 and member of the national team Lara Mihali\u0107, cadet champion of the Republic of Croatia for 2021 and member of the national team Roka Puljak, candidates for junior members of the national team Matej Medved and Leon Mu\u0161njak, and the sister of late Mihael Javorovi\u0107 after whom the memorial was named Hana Javorovi\u0107.
