The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 met today in the Office of the President with representatives of the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics, an official institute in Croatia tasked with preserving and fostering the Croatian language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team of researchers of the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics comprising its Director Dr. \u017deljko Jozi\u0107, Dr. Vuk-Tadija Barbari\u0107, Dr. Marijana Horvat, Dr. Sanja Peri\u0107 Gavran\u010di\u0107 and Dr. Kristina \u0160trkalj Despot presented to President Milanovi\u0107 the Institute\u2019s latest publication entitled Judita Marka Maruli\u0107a: transkripcija i prilagodba na suvremeni hrvatski jezik<\/em> [Judita<\/em> by Marko Maruli\u0107: transcription and adaptation to the modern Croatian language].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authors said at the meeting that the book was written on the occasion of the major 500th<\/sup> anniversary of the printed edition of Judita<\/em> by Marko Maruli\u0107, the first literary work in the Croatian language. Namely, Marko Maruli\u0107\u2019s Judita<\/em> was printed in 1521 in Venice, while in Croatia the year 2021 was declared the Year of Marko Maruli\u0107 and also the Year of Reading. The delegation explained that because this masterpiece of Croatian literature is relatively difficult to understand today, which is why it has remained undiscovered by younger generations of readers, a working group of the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics was formed with the task of drafting a text of Judita<\/em> that is adapted to the modern Croatian language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adviser to the President of the Republic for Education Jadranka \u017darkovi\u0107 and Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Culture Zdravko Zima were alongside President Milanovi\u0107 at the meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
