The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 has sent a letter today to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenkovi\u0107 due to omissions that were made by the Government of the Republic of Croatia in the process of the adoption of EU Council conclusions on enlargement and stabilisation and association process. The EU Council conclusions were adopted on Tuesday, the 14th<\/sup> of December 2021 in Brussels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his letter to Prime Minister Plenkovi\u0107, President Milanovi\u0107 expressed dissatisfaction with and opposition to the adopted EU Council conclusions since they do not guarantee rights for Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a constituent people. The support of the EU Council conclusions by the Government of the Republic of Croatia is unacceptable to President Milanovi\u0107, especially because by doing so it has backed down also on the positions agreed and adopted by the National Security Council. President Milanovi\u0107 believes that the Government of the Republic of Croatia, as a full member of the EU, should not have supported the EU Council conclusions that do not guarantee the rights of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a constituent people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being convinced that protecting the status of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a constituent people is a strategic interest for the Republic of Croatia, President Milanovi\u0107 warned the Prime Minister that in the future the Republic of Croatia will not be able to support any joint document by organisations of which Croatia is a member that will not contain basic elements of protection for Croats of Bosnia and Herzegovina, such as the status of a constituent people and legitimate representation in government bodies.
