The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanovi\u0107 attended a ceremony on the 31st<\/sup> anniversary of Operation Plitvice commemorating the death of Croatian police officer Josip Jovi\u0107, the first Croatian defender to have been killed in the Homeland War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Milanovi\u0107 laid a wreath and lit a candle at the Memorial to Josip Jovi\u0107 at Plitvice Lakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the first victim of the Homeland War, Josip Jovi\u0107 was killed on 31 March 1991 on Easter Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Sini\u0161a Jurkovi\u0107, Deputy Commander of the Croatian Ground Forces Major General Tihomir Kundid, Commander of Operation Plitvice Marko Luki\u0107 and Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Marekovi\u0107 attended the commemoration and wreath-laying alongside President Milanovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
