As patron of the festival, President Milanovi\u0107 attended the main event the \u201cLegend of Picoki\u201d, a performance depicting the defense of \u0110ur\u0111evac from the Ottomans, which was held in front of the Old Town of \u0110ur\u0111evac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis stage performance is a lovely and gentle version of Croatia\u2019s past, without hate and rudeness, without a need for revenge, but our history was much more difficult than this performance will depict\u201d, President Milanovi\u0107 stated, thanking for the invitation and the honour to be patron of this festival in \u0110ur\u0111evac, \u201ca lovely and peaceful community in Podravina, a town that is more and more beautiful and orderly\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cLegend of Picoki\u201d was directed by Kre\u0161imir Dolen\u010di\u0107 including more than 300 performers. The tradition of the \u201cLegend of Picoki\u201d has been recognized by the European Commission which awarded \u0110ur\u0111evac the status of \u201cEuropean Destination of Excellence\u201d for preserving and nurturing the intangible cultural heritage. The hosts of President Milanovi\u0107 were the mayor of \u0110ur\u0111evac Hrvoje Jan\u010di and the president of the Municipal Council \u017deljko Lackovi\u0107.
