{"id":21395,"date":"2023-01-25T13:22:47","date_gmt":"2023-01-25T12:22:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.predsjednik.hr\/?post_type=news&#038;p=21395"},"modified":"2023-01-25T13:23:18","modified_gmt":"2023-01-25T12:23:18","slug":"contemporary-edition-of-parnassia-militia-the-principal-work-of-croatian-baroque-music-presented-to-president-milanovic","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.predsjednik.hr\/en\/news\/contemporary-edition-of-parnassia-militia-the-principal-work-of-croatian-baroque-music-presented-to-president-milanovic\/","title":{"rendered":"Contemporary Edition of Parnassia Militia, the Principal Work of Croatian Baroque Music, Presented to President Milanovi\u0107"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 received today representatives of the <em>Matica hrvatska<\/em> Branch of Sveta Nedelja and the Croatian Music Centre on the occasion of the 400<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the first publication of the principal work of Croatian baroque music \u2013 the collection of spiritual concerts (motets) \u201c<em>Parnassia militia\u201d<\/em> by the Croatian composer Vinko Jeli\u0107 and the contemporary critical printed edition of this collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The book <em>Parnassia militia<\/em> was presented to President Milanovi\u0107 by Martina Mi\u010dija Pali\u0107, President of the Croatian Music Centre and Head of the Music Department of the <em>Matica hrvatska <\/em>Branch of Sveta Nedelja, Robert Pali\u0107, Secretary of the Croatian Music Centre and Coordinator of the Lazarus Project for the revitalization of Croatian musical heritage, and Franjo Bili\u0107, harpsichordist and conductor of the Croatian Music Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During their presentation of <em>Parnassia militia,<\/em> the representatives pointed out that it is the principal work of Croatian baroque music that was first published in Strasbourg in 1622. The importance of this edition lies in the fact that one of the most significant collections of Croatian baroque music will become available to the widest range of interested national and international audiences, thus facilitating access and learning about valuable cultural achievements, the delegation said at the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In regard to early Croatian music, the delegation explained that today even experts know little about it, and the public is almost entirely unfamiliar with it, which is why <em>Parnassia militia<\/em> is a major step in raising awareness about the value of this music.
