The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 received today Town of Labin officials and representatives of the Town of Labin Youth Council. The Mayor of Labin Valter Glavi\u010di\u0107 introduced the Town of Labin Youth Council made up of representatives from all three Labin schools \u2013 two elementary schools \u201cIvo Lola Ribar\u201d and \u201cMatija Vla\u010di\u0107\u201d \u2013 and \u201cMate Bla\u017eina\u201d Secondary School. The Youth Council is composed of 21 pupil-counsellors elected in each of the classes of the above-mentioned schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, the leader of the Town Youth Council at \u201cMatija Vla\u010di\u0107\u201d Elementary School Silvija \u010cesnik, who as a pupil was also in the Council, said that by participating in the work of the Youth Council the pupils learn about tolerance, better communication, expressing personal views, freedom of speech, public speaking, public appearance, teamwork, better connection between Labin schools. The goal of the Youth Council is to critically think by putting forward ideas and make an impact on changes within the local communities, freely express one\u2019s needs and wishes, and have an effect on school environment as well as motivate independent activities of children and youth, and thereby open and develop active communication between bodies of the Town government and youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of twenty years the Town of Labin Youth Council held some forty meetings on a variety of topics, and the representatives underlined that their work is carried out in the scope of the project \u201cLabin Healthy Town\u201d in coordination with the Town of Labin. They cooperate with associations at the local level and broader. In accordance with the Rules of Procedure, the President of the Town of Labin Youth Council is Mayor Valter Glavi\u010di\u0107, the Vice-President comes from the ranks of the pupils, and the Heads of different Departments of the Town of Labin attend the meetings. Following the introduction of the Youth Council, President Milanovi\u0107 took questions from the pupils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also attending the meeting in the Office of the President besides the Mayor of Labin were Town officials: Adviser for Upbringing, Education and Demography Vesna Bla\u017eina, the Head of Social Activities Borjan Batagelj, the Administrative Officer for Social Activities Marina Brezac, the Head of the Municipality of Barban Dalibor Paul as well as leaders of the Youth Council and pupils, members of the Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside President Milanovi\u0107 was the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka \u017darkovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
