The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanovi\u0107 bestowed decorations upon Croatian defenders from the Homeland War, the members of the 204th<\/sup> Vukovar Brigade, the 9th<\/sup> Guards Brigade \u201cVukovi\u201d [Wolves], the 130th<\/sup> Croatian Army Brigade from Osijek, the members of the police force from Vukovar and Kri\u017eevci, and the special purpose unit from Valbandon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThirty years have passed, another 30 years will pass and the question is how many of us will be here. But what you have done and what you are doing these 30 years for Croatia cannot and must not be forgotten. Glory to all those who are not among us, so they are not forgotten and so we remain faithful to the Homeland,\u201d said President Milanovi\u0107 at a ceremony in the Office of the President. Congratulating the Croatian defenders on their decorations and recognitions, President Milanovi\u0107 said they should have received the accolades earlier, but it is never too late to express gratitude for their honourable participation in the Homeland War. \u201cThis is a debt of honour, it is not an everyday event, it is something that will remain etched in memory,\u201d President Milanovi\u0107 emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major General \u017deljko \u017divkovi\u0107 (retd) thanked the President of the Republic on behalf of those who were decorated. \u201cToday, we stand here together to share a moment of great honour and pride. These awards are not only a token of individual achievement, but a reflection of the spirit of community and commitment. We feel deeply honoured as we receive these awards, but we are also aware of the responsibility that comes with it. This award is not only our recognition; it is for every soldier who shared the challenging moments with us. Victory came as a result of teamwork and cooperation,\u201d said Major General \u017deljko \u017divkovi\u0107 (retd).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For bravery and heroism displayed in the Homeland War, Milan \u010cani\u0107 was decorated with the Order of Duke Domagoj with Ribbon (posthumously). Zdenko Horvat, Sini\u0161a Jak\u0161evac, Zlatko Kova\u010di\u0107, Damir Kr\u0161i\u0107, Nenad Sinkovi\u0107 (posthumously), Ivo Ramljak (posthumously) and Josip Kvesi\u0107 (posthumously) were decorated with the Order of Nikola \u0160ubi\u0107 Zrinski for a deed of valour in the Homeland War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marinko Babi\u0107, Mirko Brekalo, Marko Cvitkovi\u0107, Ivan \u0106uri\u0107, \u017deljko \u017divanovi\u0107, Zvonko Milas, Vladimir Urban (MIA), Vladimir \u0110uki\u0107 (posthumously) and Franjo Kra\u010dak (posthumously) were decorated with the Order of Ban Jela\u010di\u0107 for extraordinary successful command of units of the Croatian Armed Forces and for extraordinary military services in their set-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milorad Beg, Goran \u0160tipak and \u017darko Lauc were posthumously decorated with the Order of Petar Zrinski and Fran Krsto Frankopan with Gilded Interlace as an honourable sign of the eternal memory of those who died for the Croatian state in war. For being seriously wounded in the Homeland War, Drago Kora\u0107, \u017deljko Gobac and Zvonko Kova\u010di\u0107 (posthumously) were decorated with the Order of the Croatian Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For extraordinary services to the Republic of Croatia in a state of war and in an immediate threat of war, the Order of the Croatian Trefoil was bestowed upon Ivica \u017divkovi\u0107, Josip Lovri\u0107, Jelica Pintar, Dragica Borovac and \u017deljko Dodig, and posthumously upon Milan Juri\u0161i\u0107, Nikola Ti\u0107ak, Pavo Majdan\u010di\u0107, Miroslav Lovrini\u0107, Davor Grginovi\u0107, Vjeko Pecirep, Dominko Lovri\u0107, Stipe Krni\u0107, Nikola Zduni\u0107 and Kristian Tonkovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For extraordinary contributions to the development and the reputation of the Republic of Croatia, as well as to the welfare of its citizens, the Order of the Croatian Interlace was conferred on Miroslav Pavrli\u0161ek, Dalibor Demetar, Ivica Govoru\u0161i\u0107, Ivana He\u0107imovi\u0107 Polimanac, Stjepan Crn\u010di\u0107, Stjepan Mekovec, Bo\u017eo Mrv\u010di\u0107, and Frane Zori\u0107 (posthumously).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For their participation in the Homeland War, the Homeland War Memorial Medal was awarded to Mladen \u017div\u010di\u0107, Tihomir Kolar, Mario Crnjak, Vladimir Abel, Franjo Tibor, Elvis Josip \u017dunac, Slavko \u0106o\u0161i\u0107, Hrvoje Za\u010dkaj, Robert Varga, Dra\u017een \u0160panjol, Darko Plantek, Ninoslav Mari\u0107, Robert Gergurec, Franjo Glavati, Aleksandar \u010cernela, Miroslav Bu\u017eonja, \u017deljko Bla\u017eevi\u0107, Stjepan Crn\u010di\u0107, Stjepan Vilar, Dra\u017een Dr\u010di\u0107 and Ivica Premu\u017ei\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For honourable and exemplary service, the Homeland Gratitude Memorial Medal was presented to Dario Magi\u0107. Nino Peru\u0161i\u0107 was awarded the \u201cFlash\u201d Medal for his participation in the military and police Operation Flash, while Slavko Jaku\u0161 was awarded the \u201cStorm\u201d Medal for his participation in the military and police Operation Storm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Milanovi\u0107 was accompanied at the ceremony by the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Defense Ivica Oluji\u0107, Adviser to the President of the Republic for National Security Dragan Lozan\u010di\u0107, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Foreign and European Policy Neven Pelicari\u0107, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Education Jadranka \u017darkovi\u0107, Secretary General of the Office of the President of the Republic Dinko Suton, Chief of Protocol of the President of the Republic Dragana Podner, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Marekovi\u0107, Assistant Head of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic Goran Grobotek, and Aide-de-Camp to the President of the Republic Colonel Vlado \u010culina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
