The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 received today a delegation from the Council of the Roma National Minority of the City of Zagreb, marking the 20th<\/sup> anniversary of the Council\u2019s establishment. The Council represents around 2000 members of the Roma national minority residing in Zagreb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the meeting, the representatives of the Council of the Roma National Minority briefed President Milanovi\u0107 on the Council\u2019s activities. With the goal of Roma integration and affirmation, the Council collaborates with all relevant institutions to address housing issues and enhance the living conditions of the Roma in Zagreb. According to them, significant progress has been made in the past 20 years to improve the status of Roma in society. However, there are still challenges that the Council is actively working on, in cooperation with various institutions. In this context, they emphasized the need for better cooperation with the local authorities in Zagreb, expressing dissatisfaction with the current level of collaboration. The meeting also touched upon the upcoming celebration of International Romani Day in April. During this event, the organization plans to host a programme in collaboration with other associations and institutions representing Croatia\u2019s Roma population, marking the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation of the Council of the Roma National Minority of the City of Zagreb was composed of Council President Ramiz Ajdin, Council Vice Presidents Halida Alijagi\u0107, Bislim Ga\u0161i, Raman Fazlievski, Zijad Osmanovi\u0107, Ibrahim Ismailovski, Mehmed Zahirovi\u0107, Housing Committee Chairman Kemal Ahmetovi\u0107, Culture and Sports Committee Chairman Senad Ahmetovi\u0107, Education Committee Chairman Hajro Ahmetovi\u0107, and Council members Jasmin Bajri\u0107, Anka Dalipovski, \u0160aha Zahirovi\u0107, Jasmin \u0160ari\u0107 and Council Secretary Darija Goreta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Milanovi\u0107 was accompanied at the meeting by Melita Muli\u0107, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
