The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 visited Opatija today, where he addressed the latest developments in the Middle East, in the wake of Iran\u2019s attack on Israel. \u201cThese are all elements of the Third World War, Ukraine and everything that is going on. I am glad there were no major casualties \u2013 unfortunately, one child died \u2013 and that the damage was limited. It is imperative for the attacks to cease promptly, so that we don\u2019t get into all these stories about who attacked first,\u201d said the President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He reiterated that this is not Croatia\u2019s conflict, much like the war in Ukraine. \u201cThis only shows that Croatia needs cool-headed and responsible people, and that\u2019s not Plenkovi\u0107 and his ridiculous ministers who tried to drag us into the conflict in Ukraine through the training of soldiers, which we barely stopped in Parliament. Croatia needs serious and responsible people, and that\u2019s not Plenkovi\u0107. He is dragging us into conflicts he doesn\u2019t understand. Ukraine, and especially Israel and Iran \u2013 these are arenas where we should remain neutral. I have shown how this is done and I will not take any sides because no one asks us anything. We can only incur the wrath of others or third parties on ourselves, and we don\u2019t need that. Croatian flags, city flags and county flags fly in Croatia, not American, Israeli or let alone Russian flags,\u201d said President Milanovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President of the Republic visited Opatija today on the occasion of celebrations marking the 180th<\/sup> anniversary of organized tourism in the coastal town. \u201cOpatija is a town with great prospects. In fact, it is losing residents who are moving to the town\u2019s periphery, but this gives quality to the town. Things can only get better here than they have been to date,\u201d said President Milanovi\u0107 after holding a meeting with Opatija\u2019s municipal authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the renovated \u201cVilla Angiolina\u201d, President Milanovi\u0107 held a working meeting with representatives of Opatija\u2019s municipal government, including Mayor Fernando Kirigin, Town Council President Du\u0161an Kotur, Deputy Mayor Kristina \u0110uki\u0107, and the Director of \u201cThallassotherapie Opatija\u201d Viktor Per\u0161i\u0107, who briefed him on the ongoing town projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVilla Angiolina\u201d is a historic building that marked the beginning of tourism in Opatija. Since November 2007, the Croatian Museum of Tourism has been housed in the villa. On the occasion of the 180th<\/sup> anniversary of organized tourism in Opatija, a new permanent exhibition is scheduled to open in the villa, while its lower part will serve as a venue for events and mini concerts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Milanovi\u0107 was accompanied in Opatija by Melita Muli\u0107, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
