The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107, currently on an official visit to Brazil, visited S\u00e3o Paulo on Wednesday. In Brazil\u2019s largest city, he met with the Governor of S\u00e3o Paulo, Tarc\u00edsio de Freitas, and later with the Mayor of S\u00e3o Paulo, Ricardo Luis Reis Nunes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S\u00e3o Paulo, the financial and economic hub of Brazil, is home to the largest Croatian community in the country. The Croatian-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, founded in S\u00e3o Paulo last year, is among the organizations President Milanovi\u0107 will meet with. He is also scheduled to meet members of the Croatian diaspora and their descendants, approximately 80,000 of whom reside in Brazil, with the largest concentration in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S\u00e3o Paulo hosts two major Croatian societies: Croatia Sacra Paulistana (SACRA) and Sociedade Amigos da Dalmacia (Friends of Dalmatia Society \u2013 SADA). Additionally, there is an initiative to establish another Croatian association, the Croatia-Brazil Society in Paran\u00e1, aimed at gathering Croatian descendants living in Curitiba and its surrounding areas. \u201cThe Croatian community in Brazil has existed for more than a century, and I am extremely glad to meet them,\u201d said President Milanovi\u0107 ahead of his arrival in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
