Tonight, President Zoran Milanovi\u0107, the Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces, hosted a formal reception at the Office of the President. The event commemorated Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day, Croatian Defenders Day, and the 29th<\/sup> anniversary of the Military and Police Operation \u201cStorm.\u201d During the reception, he presented decorations, medals, promotions, and commendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Milanovi\u0107 commemorated Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and Croatian Defenders Day \u201cwith special gratitude to those to whom we are most grateful \u2013 our defenders and those who paused somewhere in this effort and whom we lost, but whom we will never forget.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President presented a total of 69 decorations, of which 56 were awarded to Croatian defenders and 13 were awarded to members of the Ministry of Defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He posthumously awarded honorary brigadier general ranks to Major Marko Babi\u0107 and Colonel Damir Tomljanovi\u0107 Gavran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Order of Duke Domagoj with Ribbon, awarded for special bravery and heroism during the Homeland War, was bestowed upon \u017deljko Brki\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Order of Nikola \u0160ubi\u0107 Zrinski, awarded for a deed of valour during the Homeland War, was bestowed upon Mario Na\u0111, Ivan Petrinovi\u0107, and the Kumrovec Special Police Unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Order of Ban Jela\u010di\u0107 was bestowed upon Luka Krijan for extraordinary successful command of units of the Croatian Armed Forces, and for extraordinary military services in their organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Order of the Croatian Cross was presented to Jozo Tomas, for being seriously wounded in the Homeland War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Order of the Croatian Trefoil, for special services to the Republic of Croatia in the Homeland War, was awarded to Marko Kadija, Zdenko  Horvat, Marko Vili\u0107, Boris Nikoli\u0107, Marko Karaula, Pejo Lovrinovi\u0107, Mirko Matijevi\u0107, Jura Tadi\u0107, Mario \u0160kegro, Marko Luketi\u0107, Ivan Hovanjec, Vili \u0160rut, Jerko Mandu\u0161i\u0107, Mladen Rossi, Sandro Adam, Boro Mi\u0161i\u0107, and Josip Drmi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Order of the Croatian Interlace, for extraordinary contributions to the development and standing of the Republic of Croatia, as well as to the welfare of its citizens, was bestowed upon Mi\u0107o Bi\u0107ani\u0107, Anthony Kurta, Vitomir Bur\u010dul, Zvonimir Madunovi\u0107, Nikola Banjanin, Tihomir Kmet, Tomislav Antolovi\u0107, Zvonko Raji\u0107, Damir I\u0161tuk, Dra\u017een Rossi, Milan Sekuli\u0107, Marinko Mati\u010devi\u0107, and Miroslav Kova\u010di\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For their participation in the Homeland War, the Homeland War Memorial Medal was conferred upon Dragan Troskot and Pero Gro\u0161eta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goran Pernjek was decorated with the medals \u201cFlash,\u201d \u201cSummer \u201995\u201d and \u201cStorm\u201d for participating in military and police operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For extraordinary services to the Republic of Croatia in a state of war, in an immediate threat of war or under special circumstances in peace, Brigadier General Davor Tretinjak, Colonel An\u0111elka Mikuli\u0107, and Lieutenant Colonel Pere Livai\u0107 were decorated with the Order of the Croatian Trefoil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lieutenant Colonel Hrvoje Vrdoljak was decorated with the Order of the Croatian Interlace for extraordinary contributions to the development and the standing of the Republic of Croatia, as well as to the welfare of its citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For their honourable and exemplary service, Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Grgi\u0107, Major Tatjana \u0160olaja, Major Kre\u0161imir \u0160umiga, Major Mario Vukadin, Captain Boris Mileti\u0107, and civil servant \u017deljko Kmezi\u0107 were decorated with the Homeland Gratitude Memorial Medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, a total of 139 active male and female officers and one military specialist officer were promoted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ten lieutenant colonels were promoted to the rank of colonel (among them two female lieutenant colonels). The promoted are: Andrija Mihanovi\u0107, Marijan Cvok, Branimir Ga\u0107ina-Bilin, Goran Marunica, Ivan Radi\u0107, Davor Zdilar, Toni Lozo, and Ivan \u0160poljar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thirteen majors were promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel\/commander (including four female majors who have been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel). The promoted are: Luka Dodig, Kruno \u0160triga, Jozo Brekalo, Tatjana \u0160olaja, Robert Dr\u017eaji\u0107, Bo\u017eo Krileti\u0107, and Ante Viduka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twenty captains were promoted to the rank of major\/lieutenant commander (including eight female captains who have been promoted). The promoted are: Sabina Sa\u010der, Tihomir Kastmiler, Tomislav Dvora\u010dek, Jasmina Vrgo\u010d, Dalibor Turkalj, Goran Tu\u0161kan, Maja Mazalin, Andrea Lipovac, Ante Jelin\u010di\u0107, Mihaela Plepeli\u0107, Frane Milutin, and Julijana Ferk Lade\u0161i\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twenty-three first lieutenants were promoted to the rank of captain\/lieutenant (including six female first lieutenants).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seventy-three second lieutenants\/lieutenants junior grade were promoted to the rank of first lieutenant (including ten female second lieutenants).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One captain-military specialist was promoted to the rank of major-military specialist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President of the Republic commended a total of twelve members of the Ministry of Defense and the Croatian Armed Forces. For achieving outstanding results in fulfilling assigned tasks, the following individuals have been commended by the Commander in Chief: Colonel Bo\u017eenko \u0110evoi\u0107, Colonel Davor Gren, Major Vedran Bari\u0107, Major Ivo Ko\u0161\u010devi\u0107, Major Antonio Nemet, Captain Stipe Bartulovi\u0107, Captain Ivan Ron\u010devi\u0107, and Sergeant Major Mladen Stankovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Young performer Martin Kosovec, along with musicians from the Armed Forces \u2013 including the Croatian Navy\u2019s Klapa \u201cSveti Juraj,\u201d the Police Klapa \u201cSveti Mihovil,\u201d and the Small Jazz Ensemble of the Croatian Navy \u2013 added to the grandeur of the evening at the formal reception held at the Office of the President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
