For their participation in the Homeland War, the Homeland War Memorial Medal was posthumously awarded to Dario Ba\u0161i\u0107, Ivan Ba\u0161i\u0107, Dino Bili\u0107, Svetoslav Bugarin,&nbsp; Ivan Butkovi\u0107, Himzo Crnali\u0107, Josip Fehir, Klaudio Janko, Sergio Jeromela, Silvestar Jug, Zdravko Koli\u0107, Mirko Pere\u0161a, Damir Peru\u0161ko, Zvonko Pitinac, Boris Puri\u0107, Miro Rado\u0161evi\u0107, Klaudio Runko, Eduard Sankovi\u0107, Mato Srdarevi\u0107, Libero \u0160ari\u0107, Todor Traj\u010deski, Dragan Bara\u0161in, Ivan Butkovi\u0107, Bruno, Zvonimir Erde\u0161i, Ivan Ivan\u010di\u0107, Milan Kliman, Josip Kuhari\u0107, Anton Lekaj, Slavko Lovre\u010di\u0107, Aldo Mihovilovi\u0107, Boris Mu\u0161kovi\u0107, Franko Pepoli, Edi Petercol, Vladimir Radolovi\u0107, Boris Sin\u010di\u0107, Ferruccio Sorani, Livio \u0160\u0107ulac, Lu\u010dano Uko\u0161i\u0107, and Marjan \u017digant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For his honourable and exemplary service, the President of the Republic awarded the Homeland Gratitude Memorial Medal to Boris Ru\u017ei\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1<sup>st<\/sup> Home Guard Battalion of Pula was established by order of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Dr. Franjo Tu\u0111man, on 30 April 1992, with the purpose of defending the city of Pula, the then Municipality of Pula, and potentially aiding in the defense of neighbouring municipalities. Its significance lies in being the first Home Guard unit from Istria County to serve on the Lika battlefield. The unit successfully completed all its tasks without suffering any losses and set an example for other units on the battlefield through its organization and conduct. It comprised four companies, with a total of 609 members, and more than 1,500 defenders served within its ranks during its existence. The battalion was primarily composed of conscripts from the former Municipality of Pula (Pula, Li\u017enjan, Medulin, Vodnjan, Mar\u010dana, Barban), but also included individuals from Rovinj, Pazin, Labin, and Lupoglav. The unit was disbanded on 13 July 1999 as part of the reorganization of the Croatian Army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aide-de-Camp to the President of the Republic, Colonel Vlado \u010culina, accompanied the delegate of the President of the Republic and Special Adviser to the President for Homeland War Veterans, Marijan Marekovi\u0107, at the award ceremony for Croatian defenders of the 1<sup>st<\/sup>
