The President of the Republic, Zoran Milanovi\u0107, attended the concert \u201cEvening of Me\u0111imurje Folk Songs\u201d, which was held as part of the \u201cMonth of Me\u0111imurje Folk Songs\u201d event, on the day when the Me\u0111imurje Folk Song was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u201cMonth of Me\u0111imurje Folk Songs\u201d is held under the patronage of the President of the Republic from 4 to 29 November, with numerous lectures on folk songs and intangible heritage, as well as exhibitions and concerts. The event also marked the 100th<\/sup> anniversary of the birth of the ambassador of Me\u0111imurje Folk Songs, Elizabeta Toplek – Teta Liza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Me\u0111imurje Folk Songs became part of the UNESCO Representative List on 28 November 2018, and the Me\u0111imurje County Assembly proclaimed that date as Me\u0111imurje Folk Songs Day with the aim of encouraging work with children and young people in day care centres and schools as a pledge for the future of the native treasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Me\u0111imurje County as part of the \u201cMe\u0111imurje Song Month\u201d programme celebrated the Me\u0111imurje Song Day by presenting a promotional publication that brings together the records and testimonies of experts and guardians of the song. Thus, on the eve of the concert, a promotional book called \u201cMe\u0111imurska popevka \u2013 blago \u010dovje\u010danstva: Ti si meni po sredini srca\u201d (Me\u0111imurje Song \u2013 a treasure of humanity: You are in the middle of my heart) was presented in the hall of the \u201cRiznica of Me\u0111imurje\u201d museum, after the verse of the famous song \u2018Dej mi, Bo\u017ee, o\u010di sokolove\u2019 (Give me, God, the eyes of falcons), which was often performed during her lifetime by the greatest promoter of the Me\u0111imurje song, Elizabeta Toplek – Aunt Liza from Donja Dubrava.
