The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 attended a proclamation ceremony of the best athletes of the City of Zagreb for 2024 organized by the Sportski savez Grada Zagreba (Sports Association of the City of Zagreb).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He congratulated the award winners, the best athletes, coaches and clubs of Zagreb on their successes, which he said filled him with awe. \u201cAll of this tonight, for the umpteenth time, inspires deep respect because I have always come close, but never up to par and I have not tried hard enough or maybe I did not have the talent. But, sport has been immensely important in my life,\u201d the President noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI want the system to follow you at every step of the way and for it all to be one small but powerful machine. We are a small country, but we can be powerful,\u201d President Milanovi\u0107 concluded. At the ceremony to proclaim the most successful athletes of the City of Zagreb, being held for the 48th<\/sup> time this year, he personally presented the award for the best sports crew \u2013 Martin and Valent Sinkovi\u0107, Olympic winners in the coxless pair rowing event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annual awards of the Sportski savez Grada Zagreba for excellent results and sports activity were presented to: Antonia \u0160\u0107epanovi\u0107 and Noa Lilih, Ante Vuki\u010devi\u0107, Luka Buki\u0107, Karate klub Hercegovina \u2013 Zagreb and Suzana \u0160op. A lifetime achievement award was presented to: Aleksa Kocijan, Branko Milinkovi\u0107, Martin-Tino \u010casl, Sesvete Wrestling Club and the \u0160kolski sportski savez Grada Zagreba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special recognitions to the best coaches were presented to the fitness coach of the silver medal water-polo national team at the Paris Olympic Games; Pero Kuterovac, coach of bronze Olympic medal winner Sandre Elkasevi\u0107, Edis Elkasevi\u0107; coach of the gold medal Paralympic winner An\u0111ela Mu\u017eini\u0107 Vinceti\u0107, Mirela \u0160ikoronja Ivan\u010din, and coach of Valent and Martin Sinkovi\u0107, Nikola Brali\u0107. A special award was conferred on the director of the Zagreb Handball Team, Vedran \u0160upukovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bogdan Bo\u017einovi\u0107 was proclaimed the best male deaf athlete, and the best female deaf athlete was Lana Skeled\u017eija. The best male para-athlete is Ivan Katanu\u0161i\u0107, and the best female para-athlete is An\u0111ela Mu\u017eini\u0107 Vinceti\u0107, the best women\u2019s team is HAOK MLADOST and the best men\u2019s team is GNK Dinamo. The best male athlete is Ivan Berti\u0107, and the best female athlete is Sandra Elkasevi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the ceremony in addition to President Milanovi\u0107 were the president of the Sports Association of the City of Zagreb Vjekoslav \u0160afrani\u0107 and the mayor of Zagreb Tomislav Toma\u0161evi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accompanying President Milanovi\u0107 was the Commissioner to the President for Sports Tomislav Pa\u0161kavlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
