{"id":35994,"date":"2025-02-25T15:04:09","date_gmt":"2025-02-25T14:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.predsjednik.hr\/?post_type=news&#038;p=35994"},"modified":"2025-02-25T15:04:10","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T14:04:10","slug":"honorary-and-protection-battalion-solemnly-celebrates-25th-anniversary-of-its-founding","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.predsjednik.hr\/en\/news\/honorary-and-protection-battalion-solemnly-celebrates-25th-anniversary-of-its-founding\/","title":{"rendered":"Honorary and Protection Battalion Solemnly Celebrates 25th Anniversary of its Founding"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanovi\u0107 attended a ceremony marking the 25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Honorary and Protection Battalion\u2019s founding, held today at the \u201c1<sup>st<\/sup> Croatian Guards Corps\u201d Barracks on Tu\u0161kanac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Honorary and Protection Battalion is a headquarters unit of the Croatian Armed Forces, responsible for the protection and security of the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces, as well as for carrying out honorary and ceremonial duties for the state and military leadership. The unit was established as part of the General Staff on 25 February 2000, and prior to that, it operated within the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Croatian Guards Corps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the occasion of the 25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Honorary and Protection Battalion\u2019s founding, President Milanovi\u0107, exercising his constitutional and legal authority, commended Sergeant Major Vlado \u0160olji\u0107, a member of the Battalion, for successfully completing tasks and achieving outstanding results in their execution. Additionally, awards and commendations were presented to deserving members of the Battalion, and berets were awarded to new members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to President Milanovi\u0107, the ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Honorary and Protection Battalion, Colonel Tihomir Zebec; the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid; the State Secretary at the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Croatia, Branko Hrg; and numerous other guests. The event was enhanced by a performance from members of the Battalion\u2019s Honorary Company, who, accompanied by the Orchestra of the Croatian Armed Forces, showcased a military acrobatic exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Milanovi\u0107 was accompanied by the Head of the Office of the President, Orsat Miljeni\u0107; the Head of the Cabinet of the President, Bartol \u0160imuni\u0107; Adviser to the President of the Republic for Defense, Ivica Oluji\u0107; Adviser to the President of the Republic for National Security, Dragan Lozan\u010di\u0107; Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Homeland War Veterans, Marijan Marekovi\u0107; Commissioner of the President of the Republic for Sports, Tomislav Pa\u0161kvalin; and the Head of the Military Office in the Cabinet
