The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 today visited the exhibition \u201cThe Kviz Collection \u2013 A Little Treasury of Croatian Painting\u201d at the Klovi\u0107evi Dvori Gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accompanied by Antonio Picukari\u0107, Director of the Klovi\u0107evi Dvori Gallery, Petra Vugrinec, curator of the exhibition, and the collection\u2019s owners, Jelva and Boris Kviz, President Milanovi\u0107 explored one of the most respected collections of modern Croatian painting, previously largely unknown to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection comprises 68 works, primarily outstanding pieces from the late 19th<\/sup> century to the first half of the 20th<\/sup> century. Among them are Josip Ra\u010di\u0107\u2019s 1906\/07 \u201cAutoportret,\u201d which is individually protected as a cultural heritage good, and Vlaho Bukovac\u2019s 1898 \u201cPet \u0107utila,\u201d also under the protection of the Republic of Croatia. The collection features multiple works by key Croatian modern artists, including Vlaho Bukovac, Bela Csikos Sesia, Ferdo Kova\u010devi\u0107, Menci Clement Crn\u010di\u0107, Emanuel Vidovi\u0107, Miroslav Kraljevi\u0107 and the Munich Four, Milivoj Uzelac and the Prague Four, as well as Ljubo Babi\u0107, Jerolim Mi\u0161e, Miljenko Stan\u010di\u0107, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection\u2019s owners, Boris Kviz, a distinguished university professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb, and his wife, Jelva, began acquiring the paintings in the early 1970s. All works and their provenance are meticulously documented and catalogued. Paintings from the Kviz Collection have been regularly loaned for retrospective and other exhibitions. The decades-long collaboration between the Kviz family and the Klovi\u0107evi Dvori Gallery has culminated in the donation of the entire collection, representing one of the most valuable donations of art in Croatia in recent decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Milanovi\u0107 was joined by his Special Adviser for Culture, Zdravko Zima, during his visit to the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
