The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 received today a delegation from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, which is marking 150 years of Croatian statistics. The story about official statistics began in 1875 when Ban Ivan Ma\u017eurani\u0107 founded the office of statistics. During its history, the Bureau changed its name a number of times \u2013 from \u201cInstitute of Statistics and Records\u201d, to the \u201cInstitute of Statistics\u201d and the \u201cRepublic Institute of Statistics\u201d, and the current name \u201cCroatian Bureau of Statistics\u201d, which it bears since 1992.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the meeting, the representatives of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, led by its Director General Lidija Brkovi\u0107, acquainted President Milanovi\u0107 with the activity of this institution which is the main carrier, disseminator and coordinator of the system of official statistics of the Republic of Croatia, and the main representative of the national statistical system before European and international authorities responsible for statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this sense, they noted their cooperation with the European Statistical System, which was founded to ensure comparable statistics at EU level. It is a system that represents a partnership between Eurostat (European statistical system), national statistical offices responsible for the development, production and dissemination of European statistics in each Member State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attending the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic apart from Director General, Lidija Brkovi\u0107 and her deputy, Linda Kasalo Mali\u0107, were secretaries, heads of sectors and departments as well as advisers of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics: Ivana Aljinovi\u0107, Andrea Gali\u0107 Nagyszombaty, Milenka Primorac \u010ca\u010di\u0107, Suzana \u0160amec, Marcela Gracin Faga\u010d, Nada Peji\u0107, Tomislav Cviljak, Marija Kamenski, Marija Miri, Vanja Masteli\u0107, Branka Ostrman, Janko Kra\u0161evac and Silvija Hasanec Matanovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside President Milanovi\u0107 was the Special Adviser to the President for the Economy Velibor Ma\u010dki\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
