The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 received today representatives of the Union of Societies \u201cOur Children\u201d of Croatia and children from the Union\u2019s Children\u2019s Advisory Board on the occasion of World Children\u2019s Day. World Children\u2019s Day is marked on this day when the Convention on the Rights of the Child<\/a> was adopted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representatives of the Union of Societies \u201cOur Children\u201d of Croatia, led by Union president Sonja Borov\u010dak, acquainted President Milanovi\u0107 with this largest and oldest umbrella organization for children in Croatia, which unites 108 primary societies in all 19 counties and in the City of Zagreb. The \u201cOur Children\u201d Society has helped improve the lives of numerous generations of children in Croatia, it was said during the meeting, and it was emphasized that around ten thousand children participate in their programmes, with four thousand volunteers working with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Union of Societies \u201cOur Children\u201d was founded 75 years ago and has been continuously caring for children ever since. This anniversary will be celebrated in December under the patronage of the President of the Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from the representatives of the Union of Societies \u201cOur Children\u201d, at the meeting with President Milanovi\u0107 were children \u2013 members of the Children\u2019s Advisory Board: Mila Kolari\u0107 and Mia Pavlic from \u010cakovec, Borna Bel\u0161i and David Vagner from Kutina, Ana Ivan\u010di\u0107 and Aurora Pavlovi\u0107 Jo\u00f6 from Rovinj, Aristea Tadi\u0107 and     Tara Kukova\u010dec from Sveti Ivan Zelina as well as Jan Bi\u0161kup and Mateo Quien Brozi\u010devi\u0107 from Velika Gorica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The members of the Children\u2019s Advisory Board informed President Milanovi\u0107 of their activities related to representing their rights and interests, which they achieve by giving opinions and proposals on documents adopted at the national level, relating to the life and upbringing of children, and advocating for children’s rights and children’s participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also attending the meeting in the Office of the President in addition to the children, members of the Children\u2019s Advisory Board and Union president Sonja Borov\u010dak, were employees of the Union: vice-presidents Arijana Mataga Tintor and Branimir Mende\u0161; secretary-general Snje\u017eana Krpes; members of the Union\u2019s Executive Board Martina Boltu\u017ei\u0107 D\u017eeverlija and Jasenka Borov\u010dak; and Karolina Grgi\u0107, Lana Kassim, Manuela Maurovi\u0107, Marina \u017dili\u0107 as well as local societies of \u201cOur Children\u201c, who are at the same time presidents, mentors\/leaders of Children\u2019s councils: Jasna Novakovi\u0107-Markovi\u0107, Katarina Pahek, Marija Leni\u0107, Ivana Miti\u0107 Raki\u0107 and Dia Dobrin\u010di\u0107 Korenjak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside President Milanovi\u0107 was the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka \u017darkovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
