The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 today received student athletes who won medals at international competitions during the past academic year. In addition to the medal-winning student athletes and their coaches, the meeting at the Office of the President was also attended by representatives of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation and its member institutions, on whose behalf the students competed, as well as representatives of the academic community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presenting the achievements of Croatian student athletes, the President of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation Haris Pavleti\u0107 noted that between January and September 2025, Croatian student athletes won a total of 23 medals at the World University Games (FISU) and the European University Championships (EUSA): 2 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze. The medals were won at the winter edition of the World University Games in Turin, the summer edition in Rhine-Ruhr, and at the European University Championships in rowing, martial arts and handball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These results show that Croatian university sports maintain a high level of quality in exceptionally strong international competition, and that student athletes significantly contribute to the international standing of the Republic of Croatia and to the promotion of Croatian universities and higher education institutions, it was noted during the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also present were representatives of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation, the national sports federation responsible for promoting, supporting and overseeing sports at higher education institutions and representing Croatian university sports internationally: President Haris Pavleti\u0107, Executive Board members Marko \u017duni\u0107 and Igor Salaji\u0107, Sports Director Jelena Mate\u0161i\u0107, and expert associates Marija Panijan, Ivan Kaselj, Helena Herc and Ilona Matijevi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Zagreb Academic Sports Federation was represented by President Davor Pavlovi\u0107, Sports Director Marko Lepoglavec, Secretary General Mate Vuk\u0161i\u0107, and Zvonimir Jambru\u0161i\u0107, Gabrijela Gaiser and Josipa Bebek. The Split Academic Sports Federation was represented by Magdalena Ramljak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The academic community was represented by Vice-Rector of the University of Zagreb Prof. Jasenka Ostoji\u0107, President of the Association of Polytechnics of the Republic of Croatia Prof. \u017deljko Sudari\u0107, Dean of the Business Academy Rijeka Prof. Gordana Nikoli\u0107, and the Head of Sports at the Business Academy Rijeka Ivana Prokopi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Milanovi\u0107 was accompanied by the President\u2019s Commissioner for Sports Tomislav Pa\u0161kvalin, the President\u2019s Adviser for Defense Ivica Oluji\u0107, the President\u2019s Adviser for Local and Regional Self-Government Relations Nik\u0161a Peronja, and the President\u2019s Adviser for Education Jadranka \u017darkovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
