The occasion was the Agency\u2019s 20 years of activity; it is in charge of quality assurance in higher education and science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Director Danijela Horvatek Tomi\u0107 acquainted President Milanovi\u0107 with all aspects of the activities of the Agency for Science and Higher Education, which was established according to the practices of European Union countries and operates as a public institution, independent in its scope of work. The Agency provides official recommendations for issuing licenses to higher education institutions for performing activities, as well as for implementing individual study programmes, conducts accreditation and reaccreditation procedures, external evaluation of institutions and study programmes, and assesses whether faculties and higher education institutions meet quality criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, it was said at the meeting that it participates in the evaluation of scientific organizations, assists in establishing standards, keeps records of education and research, and participates in advisory bodies that connect education, science, and the labour market and enables the recognition of higher school qualifications acquired abroad.
