The President of the Republic visited today the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology of the University of Zagreb where he met with Faculty Management and toured scientific and student laboratories, and attended a presentation of the research being conducted at the Faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology is an important place for Croatian industry\u201d, President Milanovi\u0107 noted after the meeting, underlying the significance of that institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the meeting, the Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Prof. Ante Juki\u0107, PhD, Vice-Dean for Education; Prof. Sanja Lu\u010di\u0107 Blagojevi\u0107, PhD, Vice-Dean for Business; Prof. Ernest Me\u0161trovi\u0107, PhD, Vice-Dean for Science and International Cooperation; Prof. Zvjezdana Findrik Bla\u017eevi\u0107, PhD, and the Secretary of the Faculty, Anita Nikoli\u0107 Bukvi\u0107, informed President Milanovi\u0107 of the results achieved in teaching, research, and innovation, as well as future development plans that include the specialized industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology was founded in 1919 when the Technical College in Zagreb was established, and in October 2025, it marked 106 years of existence of the chemical engineering course of study. Speaking of the study programmes offered at the Faculty, the following are listed: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and Materials Engineering, Ecological Engineering, Applied Chemistry, the English-language graduate programme Chemical & Environmental Technology, the doctoral study programme Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, and finally the specialist studies Corrosion and Protection and Ecological Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the activities of the Faculty, research, development and design of chemical processes that enable high-quality, reliable and safe production while respecting the criteria of economy, efficiency and environmental protection stand out. It was noted at the meeting that the Faculty is also recognized for its dedication to scientific research and professional work, and according to the number of scientific papers published in prominent international journals, it ranks high among the University’s faculties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the meeting with the Management of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, President Milanovi\u0107 toured the scientific and student laboratories of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry and the Department of Industrial Ecology with brief presentations on research and met with employees of the Faculty company Comprehensive Water Technology d.o.o. Presenting the Faculty\u2019s research and projects during the tour, it was stated that some of the projects belong to fundamental research motivated by the acquisition of new knowledge and strengthening the general role of science in society, while other projects are declared as applied research aimed at the development of new products and technologies in accordance with the core activities of the Faculty. It was emphasized that the priority areas of research include: Clean Water, Polymeric Materials and Nanocomposites, Inorganic Materials, Energy and Environment, Optimization, Measurement and Process Control, Organic Synthesis, Corrosion and Protection, Biotechnologies, Reaction and Process Engineering and New Technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside President Milanovi\u0107 was the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka \u017darkovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
