Seeking to overcome the novel\u2019s perceived \u201cimpenetrability\u201d \u2013 a challenge once noted by the renown Croatian author Vladimir Nazor \u2013 and to revive this landmark work of Croatian cultural heritage, Milana Vukovi\u0107 Runji\u0107 reimagined the original text as a series of more accessible stories, complemented by richly illustrated artwork by the acclaimed Croatian illustrator Vendi Verni\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Milana Vukovi\u0107 Runji\u0107 is a Croatian author and editor. She is the author of numerous books of poetry, novels, short story collections, and essay collections.
