The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanovi\u0107 participated in the meeting of the Chiefs of Defence of the U.S.-Adriatic Charter member states, the commander of NATO forces in Europe and the commanders of the National Guards of the United States, held in Petr\u010dane near Zadar on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was hosted by the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid, who co-chaired the meeting alongside General Alexus G. Grynkewich, the Commander of United States European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside Generals Kundid and Grynkewich, the meeting was attended by the Chiefs of General Staff of all U.S.-Adriatic Charter member states: Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Albania; Lieutenant General Gojko Kne\u017eevi\u0107, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Brigadier General Miodrag Vuksanovi\u0107, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Montenegro; and Major General Sashko Lafchiski, Chief of the General Staff of the Army of North Macedonia. Representing the observer states of the U.S.-Adriatic Charter, Kosovo and Slovenia, the meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Bashkim Jashari, Commander of the Kosovo Security Force, and Brigadier General An\u017ee Rode, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces. The meeting was also attended by the NATO representative, Lieutenant General Peter K. Scott, Deputy Commander of Allied Joint Force Command in Naples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chiefs of Defence Conference, which included the meeting with the President of the Republic, was held under the title \u201cRealizing Regional Returns\u201d. Its main topic was the enhancement of military and civilian cooperation, as well as dialogue on security and cooperation issues among the U.S.-Adriatic Charter member states amidst broader geopolitical challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Milanovi\u0107 expressed his support for military cooperation activities that contribute to friendship, peace, and stability in the immediate and wider surroundings of the Republic of Croatia. He particularly emphasised the past role and activities of the United States and the U.S. military within the framework of the U.S.-Adriatic Charter. Through its chairmanship of the U.S.-Adriatic Charter, the Republic of Croatia will continue to support the path to Euro-Atlantic integration of the member states and develop cooperation with the Charter member states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The active cooperation between Croatia and the United States is also evidenced by the fact that President Milanovi\u0107 has already met this year with General Grynkewich, as well as with the Commander of the National Guard of Minnesota, Major General Shawn P. Manke, whom he decorated on that occasion with the Order of Duke Trpimir with Ribbon and Star for years long cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On behalf of the U.S. Armed Forces, alongside General Alexus G. Grynkewich, the meeting was attended by: Major General Samuel Keener, NGB J5 Director; Major General Shawn P. Manke, Adjutant General of Minnesota (state partnership with Croatia); Major General Robert B. Davis, Adjutant General of Colorado (state partnership with Slovenia); Major General Stephen E. Osborn, Adjutant General of Iowa (state partnership with Kosovo); Brigadier General Scott Lewis, Assistant Adjutant General of Maine (state partnership with Montenegro); Brigadier General Craig Hunter, Director of the Joint Staff of the Maryland National Guard (state partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina); Major General Yvonne L. Mays, Adjutant General of New Jersey (state partnership with Albania); and Major General Henry U. Harder Jr., Adjutant General of Vermont (state partnership with North Macedonia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
