{"id":8606,"date":"2021-04-12T15:21:42","date_gmt":"2021-04-12T13:21:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.predsjednik.hr\/?post_type=news&#038;p=8606"},"modified":"2021-04-12T15:21:43","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T13:21:43","slug":"president-milanovic-receives-croatian-paralympic-committee-delegation","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.predsjednik.hr\/en\/news\/president-milanovic-receives-croatian-paralympic-committee-delegation\/","title":{"rendered":"President Milanovi\u0107 Receives Croatian Paralympic Committee Delegation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 received a delegation of the Croatian Paralympic Committee, which included president Ratko Kova\u010di\u0107, vice-presidents Ana Sr\u0161en and Josip Dr\u017eai\u0107, secretary-general Ticijan Kompari\u0107, and paralympians An\u0111ela Mu\u017eini\u0107 and Ivan Katanu\u0161i\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The representatives of the Croatian Paralympic Committee briefed President Milanovi\u0107 on preparations for the participation of Croatian athletes in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. &nbsp;Besides table tennis player An\u0111ela Mu\u017eini\u0107 and athlete Ivan Katanu\u0161i\u0107, who attended the meeting, a total of seven other athletes have qualified for the Tokyo Paralympic Games. The sports include: athletics, swimming, boccie and para taekwondo. In addition to these, there are still eight to ten athletes in the qualification process who can achieve qualifying scores to compete at this year\u2019s games, including the sitting volleyball team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are doing our utmost to secure optimal conditions for our Croatian paralympians to qualify and compete at the games including organized vaccination against COVID-19, the president of the Croatian Paralympic Committee Ratko Kova\u010di\u0107 noted. He added that they care for a total of 55 women and men athletes in order to ensure optimum possibilities for them to develop, progress and achieve the best possible results. The meeting also underlined the importance of sports in the everyday life and work of persons with disabilities. He thereby emphasized the fact that children with development disabilities are not included in physical and health education activities in schools and called on amendments to the legislation that regulates this issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Croatia\u2019s independence, the Croatian Paralympic Committee has represented paralympic sports in international sports associations of persons with disabilities.
