{"id":9332,"date":"2021-05-12T14:43:03","date_gmt":"2021-05-12T12:43:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.predsjednik.hr\/?post_type=news&#038;p=9332"},"modified":"2021-05-12T14:43:03","modified_gmt":"2021-05-12T12:43:03","slug":"president-milanovic-meets-with-croatian-nurses-association-delegation","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.predsjednik.hr\/en\/news\/president-milanovic-meets-with-croatian-nurses-association-delegation\/","title":{"rendered":"President Milanovi\u0107 Meets with Croatian Nurses Association Delegation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The President of the Republic Zoran Milanovi\u0107 received in his Office representatives of the Croatian Nurses Association on the occasion of International Nurses Day, which is observed on the 12<sup>th<\/sup> of May, the anniversary of the birth of the founder of modern nursing Florence Nightingale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representatives of the Croatian Nurses Association, President of the Association Tanja Lupieri and member of the association\u2019s Supervisory Board bachelor of nursing Mirna Ignac acquainted President Milanovi\u0107 with the activities of the largest and oldest association in Croatia. They pointed out that nurses and medical technicians are by far the largest group of professionals in the Croatian healthcare system, comprising more than 50% of health professionals in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the meeting with President Milanovi\u0107, the delegation members called attention to some of the problems faced by the nursing profession in Croatia, especially the lack of nurses in the Croatian healthcare system and an increasing number of them who are quitting the profession due to being overworked and underpaid. They emphasized that there is currently a shortage of some 4,000 nurses nationwide, but also highlighted the dedication nurses showed in treating patients with COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conveying his best wishes to all nurses on International Nurses Day, President Milanovi\u0107 paid tribute to their professionalism and dedicated work and to their contribution to preserving people\u2019s health.
