President Milanović Receives World Bank Delegation

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received a delegation of the World Bank led by the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde. Alongside Anna Bjerde at the meeting were the Regional Director for EU Member States Gallina Andronova Vincelette, the World Bank Country Director for Croatia and Slovenia, who will assume his post on 1st July, Jehan Arupragasam, the World Bank Country Director for Croatia and Slovenia Elisabetta Capannelli and World Bank senior economist for Croatia and Slovenia Josip Funda.

The delegation acquainted President Milanović with the cooperation between the Republic of Croatia and the World Bank Group with special reference to the support that this institution is providing in reconstruction efforts of earthquake-stricken areas in Croatia and in mitigating the economic and social effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The problem of inequality, poverty and social exclusiveness was also discussed, and its resolution is in the joint interest of the President of the Republic of Croatia and the World Bank Group.

Attending the meeting alongside President Milanović were the Special Adviser of the President of the Republic of Croatia for the Economy Velibor Mačkić and the Assistant Adviser to the President of the Republic for the Economy Martina Ciglević.
