President Milanović Meets with General Claudio Graziano, Chairman of the European Union Military Committee
The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović met in his Office with General Claudio Graziano, the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee.
General Graziano thanked the President of the Republic for Croatia’s support to the work of the EU Military Committee, expressing particular gratitude for the participation of members of the Croatian Armed Forces in EU-led missions and operations. Preparations for drafting the document “Strategic Compass” were also discussed at the meeting, which should give clear guidelines on EU defense and security in the coming period. Other topics discussed at the meeting included EU battlegroups and their use and staffing, EU operations and missions, defense and security cooperation between the EU and NATO, and the development of EU defense and security capabilities.
Major Tomaz Visinski, Special Adviser to the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, was also present at the meeting with President Milanović. Attending the meeting alongside the Croatian President were Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Admiral Robert Hranj, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Defense and National Security Dragan Lozančić and Military Representative of the Republic of Croatia to NATO and the EU in the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Croatia to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Rear Admiral Predrag Stipanović.
