President Milanović Receives Croatian Academic Sports Federation Representatives
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received representatives of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation, the only national sports federation in charge of students’ sports, which encourages, promotes and supports sports at higher learning institutions.
At the meeting with President Milanović, the Croatian Academic Sports Federation representatives presented their activities at the national level, including their projects and working system, as well as activities at the international level. In this context they underlined the election of Haris Pavletić as first vice-president of the European University Sports Association as proof of the significant role of this Federation abroad.
They presented to President Milanović their new project of health-oriented physical fitness whose goal is to ensure continued increases in the number of students who will actively practise sports. Furthermore, the possibility of the Republic of Croatia hosting major international sports events at student level was discussed.
The Federation is a member of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and the European University Sports Association (EUSA), comprised of 21 members representing higher learning institutions in Croatia. The activities and projects they implement promote sports and physical fitness, equality and social inclusion through sports, gender equity and sports for students with disabilities.
Attending the meeting with President Milanović were Federation president Zrinko Čustonja, vice-presidents Haris Pavletić and Toni Gamulin, secretary-general Davor Habjak and sports director Nikola Vincetić.
Alongside President Milanović was the Commissioner of the President for Sports Željko Jovanović.
