President Milanović Meets with Association of Veterans, Soldiers and Patriots Delegation
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today in the Office of the President with representatives of the Association of Veterans, Soldiers and Patriots, which actively tends to the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of Croatian soldiers and veterans who were defenders in the Homeland War, and provides assistance to those in need with a view to getting rid of the negative effects caused by terrifying wartime and post-war ordeals.
The association was founded in 2011 with the aim of looking after the spiritual well-being of Croatian defenders. In 2014 it became a member of the Association of Military Christian Fellowship international organization. The delegation pointed out that the activities of the association are implemented in three areas: social care, sports activities and film production.
The delegation explained that social care is implemented through a number of projects and the Charitable Family Shop, while sports activities are carried out through a veterans’ three-team and chess competition. The association made the “Bura duše” film as part of the film production segment and is currently shooting two more films: “1991. Tko je tvoj bližnji?” and “Šah-rat.” The association has successfully implemented projects that were co-financed by the European Social Fund, including the ‘Care for Veterans’ project and the ‘Care for Thy Neighbour’ project. The ‘Care for People and the Environment’ project is currently in the evaluation phase, in collaboration with the Šipan Film School, the delegation pointed out.
Attending the meeting in the Office of the President were the President of the Association of Veterans, Soldiers and Patriots Dražen Hrženjak, Vice President Slobodan Mišević, “Atlantik – Banovina” project leaders Martin Cruickshank and Werner Ilić, and the scriptwriter and executive producer of the “1991. Tko je tvoj bližnji?” film Ante Damjanović. Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Mareković was alongside President Milanović.
