President Milanović Participates in Extraordinary Meeting of NATO Heads of State and Government

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović is participating today in an extraordinary meeting of NATO heads of state and government convened due to the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Prior to the virtual meeting, President Milanović stated that he is attending the meeting with the stance he expressed yesterday in his statement, i.e. that the Republic of Croatia, as a member of NATO and the European Union, in this situation will act within its obligations.

“Our role as allies, as allies in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, is to be loyal to our allies. At this time to do what is possible on the humanitarian, human and diplomatic side. And to be aware that we are a Western country, of Western culture and civilization. And this is the reason we are in NATO. It’s not by accident that we are in NATO”, President Milanović stated today prior to leaving for the NATO meeting.
