The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović extended congratulations to all the women in Croatia on International Women’s Day. On this occasion, he viewed an exhibition dedicated to women in science entitled “Žene i tehnika – izložba rodno inkluzivne tematike“ (Women and Technology – Exhibition of Gender Inclusive Themes”, which is on display in the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum in Zagreb.

With the professional guidance of one of the authors and curator of the exhibition Kosjenka Laszlo Klemar, President Milanović viewed the exhibition illustrating the stories of prominent female scientists – the women who broke down socially imposed barriers and made a name for themselves in male stereotype occupations, and the anonymous women to whom science is indebted.

The exhibition made use of permanent exhibits from the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum and includes women that are not necessarily scientists, but professionally carried out work that is typically associated with men. Furthermore, the purpose is not to single out the contributions of individual female scientists and inventors, but to strive to give a broader perspective. The curator explained that the exhibition does not focus on highlighting individual biographies although a number of women whose work has contributed to science and technology are mentioned.

President Milanović viewed the exhibition in the company of the director of the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum Markita Franulić, the authors of the exhibition Barbara Blasin, Tea Kantoci as well as the author and curator Kosjenka Laszlo Klemar.

Alongside President Milanović were the Adviser to the President for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić and the Assistant Adviser to the President for the Economy Martina Ciglević.
