The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović held a meeting this evening with the President of the Croatian National Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Čović on the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, after the elections in the country were called for October, and on the consequences of holding elections under the existing model for the status of Croats in BiH.

President Milanović informed Mr. Čović of his initiative for the Republic of Croatia to invest additional effort towards its partners in the EU and NATO in order to secure the right for Croats in BiH to elect their own representatives to government bodies. President Milanović and Mr. Čović agreed that it is unacceptable for Croats, as a constituent people in BiH, to again be outvoted in elections. Holding elections under the current law does not benefit the stabilisation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, they pointed out.

President Milanović confirmed that Croatia will not stop advocating the rights and full equality of Croats in BiH.
