President Milanović Receives Members of the “Sveti Nikola” Seafarers’ Association from the Municipality of Vrsi

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today with members of the “Sveti Nikola” Seafarers’ Association from the Municipality of Vrsi, who for the fourth consecutive year are organizing the celebration of World Seafarers’ Day through the event Vrsi Maritime Days. Joining the Association members were representatives of the Municipality of Vrsi, including Municipality Head Luka Perinić and Municipal Councillor Nevena Lukić.

The President of the “Sveti Nikola” Seafarers’ Association, Neven Predovan, and Vice President Branko Maraš briefed President Milanović on the Association’s work, which brings together seafarers of all ranks with the goal of preserving and promoting the maritime heritage of Vrsi, Zadar County, and the broader Croatian maritime region. The Association was founded in 2023 and currently has 180 members, it was noted during the meeting.

As a leading organization dedicated to safeguarding maritime heritage, the “Sveti Nikola” Seafarers’ Association – together with the Municipality of Vrsi – organizes this unique event marking World Seafarers’ Day, observed annually on 25 June. In addition to organizing Vrsi Maritime Days, the Association maintains close cooperation with local institutions and is committed to keeping alive the memory of the town’s maritime legacy. At the same time, it actively encourages younger generations to embrace maritime values as an essential part of Croatian identity.

President Milanović was joined at the meeting by Velibor Mačkić, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for the Economy, and Melita Mulić, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society.
