At the invitation of the President of the Republic, Zoran Milanović, the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will pay an official visit to the Republic of Croatia on Monday. The two Presidents will meet that morning in the Office of the President, where a meeting between the two state delegations will also take place.

During their talks, the Presidents are expected to discuss bilateral relations between Croatia and Italy, which are marked by an intensive political dialogue; the situation in Southeast Europe; and the European integration of countries in the region – a process supported by both Croatia and Italy. They will also address global issues, with particular focus on the war in Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East.

While in Zagreb, President Mattarella will also meet with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković. He will lay a wreath at the Monument to the Homeland and meet with representatives of the Italian national minority in Croatia.

President Mattarella previously paid an official visit to Croatia in 2015 during his first term, just as President Milanović paid an official visit to Italy in 2021 during his first term.

Italy is Croatia’s second-largest foreign trade partner by total trade volume. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics, in 2024 the total trade between the two countries amounted to €8.41 billion, with Croatian exports to Italy valued at €2.74 billion and imports from Italy amounting to €5.67 billion.
