President of the Republic Discusses Post-Earthquake Reconstruction of Zagreb with HAZU Leadership

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović has received the President of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU) Velimir Neidhardt, HAZU Vice Presidents academician Davor Miličić and academician Frano Parać, and HAZU Secretary General academician Dario Vretenar.

The President of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU) presented President Milanović with the document “HAZU statement on the reconstruction of Zagreb following the 22 March 2020 earthquake,” in which academicians outlined their views on the post-earthquake reconstruction of Zagreb. In accordance with the document, HAZU is committed to a multidisciplinary reconstruction model that will take the interest and general welfare of the public into account, whereby excellence is a precondition for reconstruction. They also briefed the President of the Republic on the damage suffered by the HAZU facilities in the earthquake and informed him about the plans and possibilities for their reconstruction.
