President Milanović Receivers Organizers of Humanitarian Campaign “Srcem kroz planine – Denali“ Raising Funds for Supetar Health Centre

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today the organizers of the humanitarian campaign “Srcem kroz planine – Denali” (With a Heart through the Mountains – Denali), which raised funds for much-needed medical equipment for the Supetar Health Centre on the island of Brač.

The humanitarian campaign was launched by Croatian alpinists Ranko Dragičević and Davor Večaj, who climbed the highest mountain peak on the North American continent, Denali, for this charitable purpose. This is an unusual humanitarian campaign that was launched with the aim of raising funds to purchase medical equipment for the Supetar Health Centre. Thanks to the great response from citizens, companies, associations and institutions, 30 thousand euros were raised, which enabled the purchase of an elevator for patients with limited mobility, an EKG machine for the paediatrics department, as well as basic equipment for the inpatient unit of the Health Centre in Supetar.

Dragičević and Večaj, together with two other alpinists and with the support of other members of the humanitarian campaign, set off on an expedition to Denali in mid-May of this year. Since Denali is known for its harsh weather conditions and technical challenges, they also talked about the difficultires they faced. Despite everything, they successfully climbed the 6,190-meter mountain peak, for which President Milanović congratulated them and thanked them for doing so for humanitarian purposes.

Attending the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic besides mountaineers Ranko Dragičević and Davor Večaj, who were accompanied by their spouses Ana and Gordana, were representatives of the town of Supetar: Marija Eterović Roić and Boris Glušević; director of the Supetar Red Cross, Mate Mladina; the owner of the „D.RIFTER“ agency for research, promotion, education and services, Dijana Šabić; and representatives of CTA komunikacije marketing agency, which participated in the project as a support in managing social media and PR activities, helping the story of Brač solidarity and mountaineering challenges to reach as wide an audience as possible: Gordan Turković, Valentina Mezdić, Lara Paša, Nika Novak and Tena Žuger.

Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić.
