The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović will participate in the meeting of heads of state of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, which this year will be held in the Albanian city of Durrës. President Milanović will attend the meeting as co-chair of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, together with the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar.

At the meeting in Durrës, the heads of state participating in the Brdo-Brijuni Process will discuss strengthening the European perspective of the entire region and accelerating the process of accession to the European Union. The discussions will also focus on enhancing regional stability and good-neighbourly relations, as well as the economic and social transformation of the countries of Southeast Europe. Special attention will be devoted to retaining young people by providing better opportunities for living and working conditions and by strengthening cooperation in the area of employment.

The adoption of a Joint Statement by the heads of state of the Brdo-Brijuni Process is also expected. The declaration will reaffirm their commitment to supporting European integration and inclusive cooperation aimed at achieving a peaceful, strong, stable, prosperous, and united European Union, and to continuing the promotion of good-neighbourly relations.

Summits of the Brdo-Brijuni Process have for years been held at the initiative of Croatia and Slovenia, both member states of the European Union. Their purpose is to enhance mutual cooperation among the countries of Southeast Europe and to accelerate the European integration process of other countries in the region, some of which are already negotiating membership in the European Union or hold candidate status for EU membership.
