President Milanović Meets with Representatives of Croatian Political Parties from Bosnia and Herzegovina
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today with representatives of Croatian political parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina who are also elected representatives of Croats in representative bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The delegation attending the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic included: Ilija Cvitanović, member of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and president of the Croatian Democratic Union 1990 (HDZ 1990); Mario Karamatić, member of the House of Representatives in the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and president of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS); Ivo Tadić, member of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and president of the Croatian Democratic Federation (HDS); and Ivan Lukenda, vice-president of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS).
President Milanović discussed with the representatives of Croatian political parties from Bosnia and Herzegovina the situation in that state, primarily the position and the rights of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina as one of the three constituent peoples. The political representatives of Croats from Bosnia and Herzegovina acquainted President Milanović with the activities they have undertaken with a focus on drafting a new election law that should, as they underlined, guarantee the right of Croats to have their own legitimate representative in all bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the Presidency. They thanked President Milanović for advocating for the rights of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for appreciating the role of members of the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) in the Homeland War, i.e. the defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.
Alongside President Milanović were the Adviser to the President for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić and the Assistant Adviser to the President for Foreign and European Policy Ivan Mutavdžić.
