President Milanović Receives Authors of Sports Show “Sport nedjeljom“ Marking 20 Years of Continuous Broadcast
The President of the Republic, Zoran Milanović, received today Ante Breko, editor in chief, and Vladimir Turković, executive producer, of TV sports show “Sport nedjeljom“ (Sports on Sunday), on the occasion of 20 years of the continuous broadcast of “Sport nedjeljom” show.
It is a TV sports show that, over two decades of broadcasting, has nurtured a recognizable identity and status as a relevant platform for covering Croatian sports. “Sport nedjeljom” has become one of the longest-running and most influential sports projects in Croatia, said Breko and Turković, adding that during that period, more than 3,500 athletes, coaches, sports workers and other prominent public figures have appeared on the show and more than 7,500 reports have featured all parts of Croatia.
As the show’s special asset, they cited a consistent and balanced approach to covering all sports: from those with the most media exposure, such as football, handball and basketball, to those with less media exposure, for which “Sport nedjeljom” often represented the only venue for public visibility and affirmation. They also pointed out that the show regularly deals with sports and topics related to persons with disabilities, thus striving to enhance the visibility, inclusion and promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities.
Throughout the entire period of the show’s broadcast, we have strived to remain true to our fundamental mission – promoting sports as an important social value, encouraging fair play, perseverance and a healthy lifestyle, especially among young people, said Breko and Turković at the meeting, who believe that the show “Sport nedjeljom” has made a significant contribution to the development of sports culture and strengthening Croatia’s sports identity through its many years of broadcasting.
Alongside President Milanović at the meeting was the Commissioner of the President of the Republic for Sports, Tomislav Paškvalin.
