President Milanović Views Croatian Sports Museum’s Permanent Exhibition
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović visited the Croatian Sports Museum In Zagreb. Under the guidance of the Head of the Department of Professional Museum Affairs, senior curator Marijan Sutlović, and in the company of the director of the Croatian Sports Museum, Danira Bilić, President Milanović viewed the Museum’s permanent exhibition “Foundation of Croatian Sports“ and the “Highest Achievements of Croatian Sports since the Independence of the Republic of Croatia“.
The permanent exhibition of the Croatian Sports Museum was opened on 27 January this year in a representative exhibition space in Ilica Street, in the centre of Zagreb. In this way, the public for the first time was presented with a systematically designed, chronological and contemporary interpretation of the development of sports and physical culture in Croatia. By opening the permanent exhibition, the Croatian Sports Museum confirmed its role as the central national institution for the preservation and presentation of Croatian sports heritage from the second half of the 19th century to the present day.
The permanent exhibition “Foundation of Croatian Sports“ follows the development of sports and physical culture since the time of Austria-Hungary, from the activities of the organization of the Croatian Hawk (Hrvatski sokol) and Franjo Bučar, through the expansion of sports during the 20th century. Through the permanent exhibition “Highest Achievements of Croatian Sports since the Independence of the Republic of Croatia“, the top results and the medals won at world and Olympic competitions are presented both in team and individual sports.
Alongside President Milanović was the Commissioner of the President of the Republic for Sports Tomislav Paškvalin.
