National Security Council, Defense Council Sessions Held
On Wednesday, 1 April 2026, sessions of the National Security Council and the Defense Council were held at Banski Dvori, jointly convened by the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković.
The National Security Council discussed current security issues, including the impact of the war in the Middle East, its effect on energy prices and other matters relevant to national security.
The meeting adopted the 2026 annual guidelines for the work of the security and intelligence agencies, in line with the law governing Croatia’s intelligence system, and approved the establishment of cooperation with foreign services in accordance with identified needs.
The Defense Council discussed strengthening Croatia’s defense capabilities, with a focus on military equipment and modernization projects.
