The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended the presentation of the book “Zagreb se bori” [Zagreb Resists] by journalist, essayist, and activist Slava Ogrizović at the Bogdan Ogrizović Library in Zagreb.

The book, published by MEDIA BAR, was symbolically launched on the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Zagreb. It is an extraordinary historical account of events during World War II and of the resistance movement in occupied Zagreb. At the same time, it offers a poignant portrayal of the everyday lives of people struggling to survive in harsh times. Slava Ogrizović was the wife of Bogdan Ogrizović, a beloved Zagreb professor who was hanged by the Ustasha in 1943 and after whom the Bogdan Ogrizović Library in Zagreb is named.

Speaking at the book presentation were historian and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences professor Tvrtko Jakovina, essayist and Academy of Dramatic Art professor Snježana Banović, and Igor Alborghetti, editor of the weekly Express. Excerpts from the book were read by actress Barbara Nola.

President Milanović was joined at the book presentation by Melita Mulić, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society.
