President of the Republic Meets with Representatives of Technical Culture Association of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today with representatives of the Technical Culture Association of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, which this year marks three decades of successful activity.
The Technical Culture Association of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County was established in 1996 to promote technical culture, help shape and implement policies for its development, and advance other shared interests in the field of technical culture at the county level. The Association’s President, Ružica Kamenjašević, presented President Milanović with an overview of the Association’s core mission: promoting technical culture among children and young people through extracurricular activities, workshops, competitions, and projects.
According to Kamenjašević, more than 4,000 children participate in the Association’s workshops each year. As the Association does not have permanent facilities, its mobile team delivers workshops in schools throughout the county in cooperation with school principals. The programme is financially supported by municipalities, cities and towns, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and the competent Ministry.
Other key activities highlighted during the meeting included the organization of county-level competitions for young technicians; the implementation of robotics, electronics, 3D modelling, and programming activities; support for technical culture associations; the organization of fairs, exhibitions, and technical events; the implementation of workshops in smaller and rural communities across Primorje-Gorski Kotar County; and the development of projects such as the Virtual Museum of Technology of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
President Milanović expressed his support for the work of the Technical Culture Association, recognizing it as a valuable contribution to the education and development of young people. The Association’s leadership described the meeting with the President as an additional encouragement to continue and further its activities.
In addition to Association President Ružica Kamenjašević, those attending the meeting at the Office of the President included Vice President Goran Gračanin; Supervisory Board President Igor Petrović; Supervisory Board member Silvano Skočaj; Alan Crnković, President of the Technical Culture Association of Kraljevica; Mladen Stojić, Principal of the Rijeka Secondary School of Electrical Engineering and Computing; Ivan Šimac, Professor at the Polytechnic of Rijeka, external associate of the Association and STEM workshop instructor; and Suzana Badurina, Adviser for Sports and Technical Culture at Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
President Milanović was accompanied at the meeting by Jadranka Žarković, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Education.
